August Recap: A Month of Sports, Stories, and Sunshine

August was a whirlwind month here at TM Photography, packed with sports action, school spirit, and a touch of real estate. As a freelance photographer based in Central Florida, I'm grateful for the diverse assignments I get to shoot — from high school football games under the Friday night lights to aerial real estate photos on scorching summer days.

Here’s a behind-the-lens look at what I covered throughout August:

Behind-the-Scenes Media Day at Trinity Catholic

The month kicked off with a fun and creative project — capturing BTS video content for a friend, Howie McCormick, during media day at Trinity Catholic High School. Be sure to check him out, he is a super talented dude. While I wasn’t the lead photographer on this one, documenting the behind-the-scenes atmosphere gave me a unique perspective on how teams prep for the season. Always cool to support fellow creatives and celebrate high school sports culture.

Combat Night Kissimmee

Later that week, I was on assignment for the Osceola News-Gazette, covering Combat Night in Kissimmee — a packed night of MMA action with a passionate crowd and fierce fighters. As a Central Florida sports photographer, events like this are always a thrill to shoot. Fast-paced, high-energy, and filled with storytelling moments in every round.

Kissimmee Lambs Tryouts (The Basketball League)

That same day, I also had the chance to cover Kissimmee Lambs' tryouts for The Basketball League. It’s exciting to see professional-level talent being fostered right here in our community. These photos helped capture the intensity, drive, and energy of athletes fighting for a roster spot.

Orlando City vs Inter Miami (MLS)

I had the privilege of photographing the MLS matchup between Orlando City SC and Inter Miami CF at Exploria Stadium — even if Messi wasn’t in the lineup. Still, the crowd brought the energy, and it was a great opportunity to shoot professional soccer in Orlando under the stadium lights.

First Day of School Coverage

As part of my freelance work with a local newspaper, I documented the first day of school at a Central Florida middle school. Capturing these moments is always a reminder of how photography can tell community stories — the nerves, the excitement, the parents, and the future all in one frame.

High School Football Kickoff Classic

Friday Night Lights made their 2025 return with the Kickoff Classic: Tohopekaliga High School vs Timber Creek High School. The sidelines were buzzing with energy. As a high school football photographer in Orlando, these early-season games are a chance to set the tone — both for the teams and for the images that will define their season.

FBA Finals (Game 1 & 2)

The Florida Basketball Association (FBA) Championship Finals wrapped up mid-month, and I was there to capture Games 1 and 2. Shooting pro-level basketball here in Florida always keeps my reflexes sharp — the action is fast, the stakes are high, and the stories are real.

Girls Volleyball: Osceola HS vs Lake Nona HS

Volleyball season is back! I photographed the Osceola High School vs Lake Nona High School matchup for the Osceola News-Gazette. Indoor sports are always a challenge with lighting, but I love the emotion and intensity in volleyball — both on the court and from the sidelines.

Commercial Real Estate Shoot in Apopka

Switching gears from sports to business — I shot a large industrial real estate complex in Apopka, including both aerial drone photography and ground-level exteriors. The property consisted of four massive industrial buildings, and the photos are now part of the listing materials. If you're looking for Orlando real estate photography, I’ve got the tools (and drones) for the job.

Girls Volleyball: International Community School vs Circle Christian

Later in the month, I returned to the volleyball court — this time, hired directly by the team at International Community School to photograph their game against Circle Christian. It’s always a privilege when teams reach out directly, and I’m glad to provide professional images that players and families can treasure.

This game had it all — big plays, big crowds, and that electric Friday night football energy. Always a great way to close out a month of storytelling through sports photography.

Looking Ahead...

As September rolls in, I’m already booking more fall sports, real estate shoots, and editorial assignments. Whether it's the sound of cleats on turf or the buzz of a drone above a commercial property, I'm here to capture the moments that matter — with professionalism, creativity, and Central Florida heart.
